About The Community Banking Ledger

Who writes The Community Banking Ledger, and how

The Community Banking Ledger is a new, independent project.

It is written by people who work in and around community banking, and it exists to explain the form and its network in plain language, with lists, rates and stories kept current.

A new project on old ground

This site takes over from a site that used to live at this address. It inherits the topic, the market, the language and the links, and nothing else. It is a new project. It is not the former site, it is not run by the former owner, and it is not affiliated with the former owner in any way. It does not present itself as them, and it does not claim their name, their mark or their history.

The subject matter is unchanged. A community bank is still a community bank: independent, locally owned, locally operated. What changed is only who is writing the ledger and why. The old site served one purpose; this one serves a plainly stated new purpose, and says so on every page where it matters.

How it is written

Plain language first, jargon second. Every definition is checked against the public record before it is published. Rates and lists are dated, because a community bank CD rate from last quarter is not the same number as today's. When the ledger gets something wrong, it says so, names the correction and dates it, in the same place the error stood.

Corrections

If a member bank, an association or a reader spots an error, the fix goes in quickly and the record keeps the trace. The ledger is a working document, and a working document must be rightable.
